Grab yourself a deckchair and relax with a cocktail in one hand and Tiki Fruits Totem Frenzy in the other. Then, get ready to dial up the Vitamin C as you journey through this 7×8 grid slot with winning clusters and avalanche features.

The background is what everyone who loves a beach holiday wants: sandy beaches, crystal clear sea and palm trees. To the forefront is the Tiki-inspired reels with two Totems sitting on either side. The soundtrack is pure beachy bliss.

Symbols

The symbols are injected with vibrant colours. High-paying symbols take the shape of old-school slot symbols. Low-paying ones are represented by exotic fruits. There is no scatter tile, instead, the bonus round is triggered when all 4 of the wilds are woken up from their snooze. Clusters can go up to 25 or more tiles and getting 25 or more 777 tiles lands the player an amazing 777x win. However, below we kept the cluster to a more possible 15.

The symbols, from highest to the lowest consist of:

  • The Wild tile is a tiki mask. There are 4 of these on fixed positions within the grid. They are dormant and are woken up if a winning combination happens adjacent to them. At the start of a new spin, they go back to sleep. Waking all 4 of them up triggers the bonus round awarding 10 spins.
  • The 777 yields 77x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The diamonds yield 20x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The bell yields 16x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The star yields 12x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The dice yields 8x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The dragon fruit yields 4x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The coconut yields 3.5x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The banana yields 3x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The papaya yields 2.5x with 15 or more clustered tiles.
  • The pomegranate yields 2x with 15 or more clustered tiles.

Features

  • Totem helpers

At any point during either the base game or the free spins rounds, you will notice the side totem lending you a hand. Hungry Totems can randomly eat up one type of fruit symbol leaving the rest to cascade down and create more winning combinations. They may also blow away all the symbols in play thus awarding a free spin but retaining the wilds which are still awake.

  • Tiki spins

Triggered when waking up the 4 tiki masks in the base game, the bonus round awards 10 free spins. It plays exactly as the base game but all 4 tiki mask wilds are awake with every spin. During Tiki spins a bar sits on top of the reels containing counters for the 5 low-paying fruit. Every time a combination with any of the fruit happens it goes into the counter. Filling it up will then remove that fruit from the reels and the rest of the free spins.

In conclusion

The game feels a little clunky and as I started playing it also felt slightly old. Yet this game was launched in the summer of 2021 so I have a feeling Red Tiger wanted to give this slot a more classic feel. As a game, it’s still very colourful but it lacks that polished look. The gameplay, or better yet, the way the symbols make their way down the reels has a certain bulk to it. Having said that, I soon got used to the look and feel of the game.

Mechanics-wise it is interesting to have the 4 dormant wilds already on the grid. These are ready to be woken up by winning clusters. As I saw the wins triggering away I found myself mesmerised until I hit the 4th Wild so that I could start the bonus round. This is where the party is and where there’s the chance of hitting that max win.

And I think this is the problem with this game. Whilst it is fun popping the fruits and other symbols, the base game tends to become boring after a few rounds and there’s little to keep the gameplay fresh. So you’re just sat waiting for the bonus round to be triggered and that can leave your balance with quite a hit.

Ultimately, this is a highly volatile slot with a lowish RTP (standing at 95.69%). With a max win of 3,000x, it almost doesn’t seem worth venturing onto this deserted island. But even when seeing these numbers, I can’t shake off the feeling that I want to retry my hand at it, just to get another taste of the sweet bonus round.
