As already mentioned Lava Gold uses the cluster pay mechanism. This means that any cluster of 5 or more will generate a win. Since winning clusters disappear from the grid and are replaced with symbols already in play it isn’t unheard of to get the whole grid filled with one symbol.

As soon as I clicked the spin button on Lava Gold I went on a whirlwind ride and I’ve been in awe of this game ever since. This game ditches the traditional slots mechanic. Whilst cluster-pays and replenished tiles are nowadays more common the way the tiles are replenished left me in awe. That’s probably my fault for not visiting the info page before I started.
Even if I did, there was no way for me to be prepared. Thing is, any symbol touching the winning cluster can replenish the tile and this is completely random. All you know is the symbols will be ones already in play which makes it even more likely to create further winning clusters. The cycle keeps going until there aren’t any winning combinations or all the reels are filled with one tile. I thought this was going to be improbable but it happened quite a few times. When this happened there was always a win between 10x and 20x. Even if you don’t manage to fill the whole grid I was still managing wins hovering around the 5x and 10x.
