All the symbols in the game are specifically made for the game, even though some of them are based on familiar slot symbols. It all fits nicely in the 5-reel, 3-row playing field with 25 paylines, which is quite high for Booming Games. In connection to this, and several of the features I’ll look into later, the listed Low Volatility fit my experience well.
There is a lot of movement in this slot with most of the symbols being animated when part of a winning payline. That’s been a change with other slots I’ve played by this developer, where most of the game is very static. The background is unfortunately just a low resolution, zoomed in picture of what seems to be a street in Cuba.
The music is another aspect in the game where the developers seemed to have put some effort into it. The song used is something that strikes me as typically Cuban, with a quick simple jingle for a win.
Cuba Caliente has a series of original symbols which are made to look like neon signs you’d find above one of the many quaint little shops in Havana. Only the Wild symbol is a drawing of two people dancing in a different style. I’m not sure why the artist chose that change but it does help in having the symbol stick out.

Due to the game’s low volatility, the payout value of even the biggest wins is very low, but that evens out somewhat due to the higher probability of getting wins. During my time playing, I found that the game wasn’t quite as forthcoming with wins as it pretended to be, however.
Cuba Caliente has some interesting features that change the gameplay of the slot a little bit. Don’t expect any earthshattering innovations or special bonus games though!

I think the best feature in Cuba Caliente is the Stacked Wilds, which show up every spin on reel 3. This makes it a lot easier to get a win, requiring only matching symbols on reel 1 and 2 to get enough symbols on a payline. The downside is obviously the low payout, meaning that even a five-of-a-kind win barely puts coins back into your funds.
So how do you get big wins? You don’t really. Even getting 4 Free Spins symbols on the screen at the same time, 5 is impossible, you will only get 20x your bet back. What you really want is several wins simultaneously, stacking payouts to create something substantial.
Of course, there’s no real way to actually do this. It requires a lot of waiting that the stars will align. Reducing your bet, players can choose a bet between $0.01 and $250, will allow you to play for a longer time. That said if you’re fine with small wins that only keep your funds relatively stable than obviously you don’t need to deploy any tactics.
The free spins didn’t trigger very often for me while I was playing but once they did it would offer a nice amount. There aren’t really any special perks to getting the free spins mode, since none of the features are reserved specifically for this part of the game.
In general, I thought the Cuba Caliente features were a little more present and helpful during the gameplay thanks to the recurring Stacked Wilds, compared to their other slots.

Cuba Caliente is a good-looking slot with a lot of original symbols, some nice features and a fitting soundtrack. It can’t compete with the bigger developers in any of these areas but it still delivers a solid gaming experience and there is a lot of fun to be had.
If you play slots for the big wins and that spike of adrenaline, this won’t be the slot for you. It keeps things rather calm, offering a steady stream of small wins over time. Players that enjoy slots that keep them entertained with flashy features or top-of-the-line graphics and music also won’t find that here.
All in all, the slot does its job well. Booming Games targets the player that plays a video slot to relax, seeing wins come in slowly but steadily and without too many distractions. The max. win of 1,722x your bet is a nice incentive to keep going, especially if you’re not the type of player to actively hunt for the jackpot.
