Guns ‘n Heat Dice is the dice version of the Mancala Gaming slot with the same name and is in most ways the exact same slot. Play in the Wild West, enjoying the blistering sun as you go about finding the big wins with Paylines Both Ways, Wilds and Free Spins.

The game is almost a direct copy of the original Guns ‘n Heat which came out only a few weeks earlier in 2020. Both slots have the exact same features, the same background, the same music and even the same symbols. The only real difference is that the symbols are shown to be on the side of dice. Even when there’s a win, the dice disappear and you are simply seeing the normal animation play out.

Why this developer decides to bring out this 5-reel, 4-row slot with the exact same details I don’t know. I was never aware that so many players were clamouring for a 25 paylines slot with dice as their symbols, but I suppose there is a real market for it as they have done it with other slots such as Kings & Dragons Dice and Huge Catch Dice.

If you’re familiar with Guns ‘n Heat at all you won’t need to read this review as it is the exact same slot again. Only players that enjoy a dice-themed slot and aren’t familiar with this game yet should read on.

As the game is set in the Wild West, all the symbols are made to fit the setting. Players are treated to a variety of images that we have seen in Western stories before, while the low-paying symbols are simple card letters such as Ace and King.

All of these symbols are only shown in a small size on the side of dice, where the dice don’t have any impact on the gameplay. Paylines are not counted based on the numbers or shapes on the dice, only by the symbols that were already used in the original Guns ‘n Heat.

The symbols are:

  • Chest: Get a Chest symbol on the screen to activate the bonus game.
  • Free Spins: Get 3 or more Free Spins symbols on the screen to activate the free spins mode.
  • Wild: Wilds substitute all other symbols in the game.
  • Revolver: Max. 250x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Dynamite: Max. 200x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Tomahawks: Max. 175x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Cowboy Hat: Max. 150x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Ace: Max. 70x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • King: Max. 60x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Queen: Max. 50x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.
  • Jack: Max. 40x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a win line.

The game uses the exact same symbols and coin wins as the original game, meaning the only difference is the use of the dice.

As with most Mancala Gaming slots, their features are chosen around their popularity and ease of understanding. If you have played slots before you’re most likely familiar with the features that are part of this slot. If you’ve played a Mancala Gaming slot before, you will definitely be familiar as they always use the same ones.

The features you will find in the game are:

  • Paylines Both Ways: The paylines in this slot are counted both ways, from left to right and vice versa. This essentially doubles them.
  • Wilds: Wilds substitute all other symbols in the game except the Bonus symbol.
  • Bonus Game: Whenever there is a Chest symbol on the screen the Bonus game starts. Players get to pick 1 of 5 chests to unveil either a coin win or Free Spins.
  • Free Spins: Picking the right chest or getting 3 or more Free Spins symbols on the screen activates the Free Spins mode.

Players will notice the Paylines Both Ways feature frequently as a lot of wins are counted from right to left instead of the usual left to right. Both ways are possible, helping the game’s Low Volatility. The game does a good job highlighting the payline as well as showing an animation of the symbols that are involved.

Wilds were another frequent occurrence during my time playing the slot and they would often help in creating wins. I did not get a lot of big wins because of them but it is definitely possible to get more than 1 Wild on the screen at the same time.

If you’re looking for a simple but important bonus game, Guns ‘n Heat Dice has you covered. Whenever the Chest symbol shows up on the screen the bonus game is triggered. This will present you with 5 closed chests and the choice of 1. When you have picked, the chest will reveal either a random coin win or a number of free spins.

The Free Spins mode offers nothing special in terms of gameplay as it plays exactly the same as the base game. The most important thing to note is that although it’s possible to trigger this mode through Free Spins symbols, I never managed to do this. The easiest way to get the free spins mode to activate is by picking the right card in the bonus game.

I found all the features to be done well and do a good job at adding to the gameplay without making the game overly complicated or boring.

Guns ‘n Heat Dice is the type of slot that players who enjoy a classic slot with some decent graphics will enjoy. The use of dice symbols instead of normal symbols must be something that’s popular among a sizeable group or Mancala Gaming would not release a dice version for every slot they create.

Players that are at all familiar with slots and are looking for something new will probably not get their fill with this game. The slot simply does not try anything new or innovative when it comes to its features, nor does it do anything interesting with the graphics or music. It’s in many ways a perfect example of a standard slot.

If you do want to give it a try you have a max. win of 2,555x your bet to look forward to. It’s possible to pick a bet between $0.25 and $22.25 per spin to augment the risk without taking away from the enjoyment.
