Enter the magical world of Gemix 2 and start your adventure alongside wizards, knights and princesses. This 7×7 grid slot with cascading symbols is the sequel to Gemix and still looks and feels very similar to the original.
Since this is a cluster pays slot, winning combinations are made by landing 5 or more symbols adjacent to one another. When these symbols are cleared, other symbols fall, taking their place. This can continue going until no more winning combinations are created. The higher the cluster number the higher the payout.
Throughout the game, certain tiles on the grid in a form of a pattern will be highlighted. When a win is registered on that tile it turns yellow. Once all tiles are highlighted then you will move onto the next level. There are 4 worlds – featuring the knight, miner, princess and wizard guardians – with 2 levels each.
All the symbols are represented by shiny, colourful gems. Each of the 4 worlds has its guardian and each of these has its own wilds.
The symbols, from highest to the lowest consist of:
There are a total of 4 worlds to explore in Gemix 2. Each world has its keeper that will activate its special wilds on a random spin. World 1 is guarded by the Knight. Up to 2 Mega Wilds will appear and substitute for all symbols. However, note that the Mega Wild only counts as 1 tile even though it takes up the space of 4 tiles.
The next world is guarded by the Miner. Here up to 10 Wilds will appear substituting for all symbols in play. The 3rd world is guarded by the Princess who comes with Mirror Wilds that can spread from edge to edge. Finally, the 4th world is guarded by the Wizard. Here up to 5 sticky wilds will appear and stay in place even after they form part of a winning cluster.
With every win, a counter called the World Bonus starts building up. When you cross over from one world to the next G-Nome will make an appearance and offer you a choice between 2 pockets. Pick the right one and the World Bonus is yours.
Winning clusters will power a meter on the right-hand side. 25 or more symbols will activate one of the 4 effects of the Crystal Charges. 50 or more will activate the Super Charge where all 4 effects will be triggered together with a x2 multiplier. If another 50 clusters are made during this feature it will retrigger the Super Charge and increase the multiplier but another x2. This can continue repeating until the multiplier is up to x20.
The 4 Crystal Charge effects are:
I never gave the original Gemix a lot of time and now I feel a little bad. Playing Gemix 2 was incredibly enjoyable. I also like a slot that has some narrative behind it and the changes in the world do offer a bit of that.
The real gem here is the Super Charge feature. Granted, it’s not easy to achieve and the two times I managed to hit my win only hovered around the 30x. But you can certainly see the potential for the 7,500x max win here (quite a jump when compared to the 4,500x of the original).
Even though the max win is higher we are presented with a lower RTP here (96.26% vs 96.83%) and lower values for symbols. To get a decent win you are reliant on the Super Charge feature which is why the game has slightly higher volatility than the original. All in all, it is a fun game to play and I do enjoy the different worlds as it keeps refreshing the slot. Having said that, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay I was seeing my funds getting lower and lower and this did put a damper on the whole affair.
