If you enjoy a simple fruit slot with some juicy graphics then Fruit Rainbow could certainly be the slot for you. The fruity scatter and wilds here might just lead you on to some rewards at the end of the rainbow!
It looks like Pragmatic Play has really gone back to basics with Fruit Rainbow. It’s almost as if the team sat down, asked what people like in slot games and came up with fruit and rainbows. They then went on to find the easiest way to combine them into a single slot and Fruit Rainbow was the result. In fact, the game is totally short on any features, with just some scatters and wilds bringing home the goods beyond the regular paying symbols. It’s quite a contrast to their more engaging recent releases such as Voodoo Magic and Big Bass Bonanza.
The setup features a pretty standard 5 reels and 4 rows with a total of 40 payline to bet on here. It all takes place with a bubbling vat of fruit juice in the background of the transparent reels. It does have a fresh and clean feel to it, but it’s certainly not the most detailed of slot backdrops, with nothing going on here to distract you from the gameplay.
I did like the jolly soundtrack of this slot and could easily imagine it blasting out of the speakers of a beach bar in Bali, as I sip on a cheeky cocktail or two. That said, the classic fruit machine winning noises used quickly became annoying, especially if the prize was anything significant. But you can always tap the screen to skip the coin counting part.
As you’d expect from a basic fruit slot, the higher paying symbols are all represented by some juicy looking fruits, accompanied by the classic playing card icons for the lower-paying symbols. There’s not much in the way of animations here, just a little pulsating and flashing from the symbols when they form a win on an active payline.
Here are the slot’s symbols in order of win potential from low to high:
It’s all pretty standard stuff but is quite a leap between the 2 highest paying symbols there, and if some strawberries come your way then things could get very juicy indeed!
Scatter The scatter is represented by a gleaming diamond that makes a rather satisfying thud when it lands on the reels. Fruit Rainbow has no bonus features to speak of so scatters won’t trigger anything here but just give you a payout when 3 or more land on the screen. The good news is that they can land anywhere and will payout in any position, so there’s no need to worry about maxing the active paylines all the time. The payouts work as follows:
Wilds The wild appears stacked on all reels in Fruit Rainbow and will substitute for any of the paying symbols excluding the scatter. It also pays out when you land 3 or more on an active payline in the following amounts:
Fruit Rainbow has a just above average RTP of 96.53% which stands it firmly in the middle ground when it comes to fruit slots. The volatility is rated on the upper-medium end of the scale. Therefore, you can expect some regular wins of an average size, but the earth-shattering amounts will be quite a rare occurrence here.
It really is a simple case of holding out for 3 or more diamond scatters if you want to walk away from this slot with a single sizable win. I wasn’t able to achieve this in my time enjoying the game, but a few wild-assisted wins certainly kept things ticking over nicely at times.
The minimum bet is $0.40 and extends up to a maximum bet of $200 per spin which you can reach by upping both the coin and coins per line value.
Fruit Rainbow works just fine as a simple fruit machine slot for some basic play to pass the time. There’s not really anything on offer here beyond that, with the lack of bonus features or free spins painfully evident within playing a few spins. It doesn’t even have the ‘pay each way’ mechanic of a similar slot like Starburst, for example.
With an average RTP and volatility combined, this could be a nice game for any casino newbies who want to master the basics. Anyone looking for anything more advanced will have to go elsewhere, unfortunately.
