Blast Boom Bang is the original title for a slot that takes its inspiration from the many superhero comics that have existed for more than 70 years by now. The game also uses Sticky Wilds and Free Spins to bring everything to an explosive conclusion.
This exciting slot was developed and released by Endorphina, having come out back in 2014. The game is built around the popular 5-reel, 4-row playing field with an impressive 50 paylines. Everything about the slot is set in the comic book style that everybody knows, where the low-paying symbols are card letters in the usual comic book font while the high-paying symbols are original characters.
The slot has a Low Volatility which quite fit my experience while playing the game, and it also means you will be treated by a nice amount of animations. Whenever there’s a win the symbols involved are animated in different ways that relate to the symbol itself. So no simple spin or zoom, but a punch landing or a character jumping. I thought that extra attention to detail was very nice and helped with the mood.
When it comes to the sound, Blast Boom Bang somewhat lives up to its name. While there are some excellent sound effects that are often related to the symbol animations, there isn’t any music while I would expect this slot to really benefit from that. Alas, the game is dead silent except for the win sounds. A missed opportunity if you asked me!
When it comes to the symbols, the developers have made an excellent effort to have the theme and the look of the slot match. The characters and items all look like they could be in an actual comic book while the card letters have the font and colours to also match the source material.
I had a lot of fun just watching the different symbols and especially seeing the animations as they were all unique. It shows that the developers and the creative team all put a lot of thought and effort into designing this slot.
The symbols you can find in this game are:
As you might notice the payouts are extremely low, with even a five-of-a-kind barely making back a single bet. This is because the wilds are very common and as a result, a lot of spins will have multiple winning paylines as well as them usually being longer. This means that you’re more likely to get a few wins added together which makes it a nice amount.
Blast Boom Bang tries to keep things relatively simple when it comes to the features. Most players will be familiar with the different elements but it’s still nice to have a quick overview:
The Wilds play a huge part in the game as they appear very often during the base game, and they are even more influential during the free spins mode. Players will see the familiar bomb symbol as an eye-catching way of letting them know the Wild is on the screen. When it’s part of a win, they will explode as well!
The Wilds become sticky during the free spins mode. This means they will stay on their spot for the remainder of the free spins, meaning the more wilds appear the more advantageous it will be. I found this to be a mixed bag in terms of results.
Sometimes the wilds showed up quickly and often at the start of the free spins mode. This meant the wilds stayed sticky for a lot of spins, as well as sometimes being on the first 3 reels from the left. Other times wilds would only appear in the last few spins or be placed on reels 4 and 5, only playing a slight role in getting a win.
The features are nice and simple but their strongest element is that they appear a lot. The Wilds, Sticky Wilds and Free Spins would not help create a game with low volatility if they were rare and thankfully they are not.
Blast Boom Bang is a fun slot with a reasonable number of features to help create an exciting yet simple slot. Players that have any experience with playing video slots will already be familiar with exactly how they work.
The slot has a very low payout which means the player will be expected to get multiple wins at a time. If this sounds a little too risky, the player can choose a bet between $0.50 and $500 per spin. The max. win is only a meagre 100x your bet which is really low but also likely to actually happen.
As I played I noticed my funds took a noticeable dive which is something to keep an eye out. Even with one of the lowest bets per spin, it did not take me very long to be dozens of spins in deficit. With the low volatility, it was very hard to win this back.
