Win up to 10,000 times your bet with sweet fruit and tart berries of Berryburst MAX! Berryburst MAX is the “maxed” version of the 2018 NetEnt slot Berryburst. So get ready, because we’re going to dive into an icy-cold drink on a hot summer day!
First, I want to explain the difference between Berryburst and Berryburst MAX slots. Yes, they are separate games, yet in comparison, MAX has double the maximum win. The catch is MAX has high volatility and a bit lower RTP of 96.23%, while the regular version has low volatility and RTP of 96.56%.
So it’s a trade of higher risks for bigger wins.
In short, Berryburst MAX is a quick-to-learn and fun slot, so even inexperienced players can easily enjoy the game. But it does have its ups and downs.
I absolutely love the design of Berryburst MAX! It’s so vivid, the colours really pop and the music is a mix of breezy tunes, pan flutes and marimba.
The theme of the slot is nothing less than refreshing – picture yourself in a glass, surrounded by fruit, berries and ice cubes. You can feel the bubbles tickling your feet, as they travel up to the surface.
The fruit symbols in the game are raspberries, mandarins, berries and lime. There are also suits; Hearts, Spades and Diamonds, but at least they’re inside big bubbles.
Main game & mechanism
If you’re not into highly complicated games filled with several features, then Berryburst MAX is for you. With Berryburst MAX you can sit back, relax and enjoy the sweetness of the tropical fruit.
The game has three rows and five reels, even though you can’t see the actual reels. Now, here’s where it gets interesting; the game doesn’t have any fixed paylines. You read that correctly! Not a single payline.
Instead, Berryburst MAX has something called Cluster Pays feature. With this feature, you get a payout whenever you get a cluster of at least five identical symbols. I’ll explain this feature with more details in the Symbols & Features part.
The main game is pretty straight-forward. Spin the reels, and wait to see if you’ve won. However, there is a possibility to get up to five re-spins with the expanding wilds. If a wild lands anywhere on the reels, it expands and remains in place during a free re-spin. A new wild acts just the same, expanding and granting a new re-spin.
It’s not a surprise to find out that the symbols of Berryburst MAX are fruit, berries and ice cubes. The only symbols standing out are the suits, but as they’re captured within glistening bubbles, they’re passable.
The highest paying symbol is the raspberry, which pays 10,000x your bet if you get 15 of them on the reels. If you manage to get the expanded wilds on every reel, the payout is the same as with the raspberries.
The mandarins pay 5,000x your bet, and the berries and the lime pay 2,500x your bet. The suits are all the same value, paying 1,000x your wager at best.
With high volatility comes higher risks, and this is something everyone should keep in mind with NetEnt MAX slots. That is, even if they look an sound exactly as the regular versions, they are definitely more stingy with the payouts.
Having played both Berryburst and Berryburst MAX I did get a general feel of this difference. But I noticed that even with the basic version I wished for more frequent wins – even if just the small ones. So with the MAX slot, I ended up getting almost zero wins and wild re-spins. In the long run, this does make the experience in whole somewhat dull.
Then again, the rarity of the winning spins is what makes them more special. And just the thought of winning up to 10 000 times my wager was still tempting enough to keep me interested and the reels spinning.
In general, NetEnt’s MAX games are an easy way to play some of your favourite slots and get a chance to win bigger. The same goes for Berryburst and Berryburst MAX – choose your preferred risk and payout level, and enjoy the ride.
As a slot game, I’d say that Berryburst MAX is something I enjoy playing every now and then. But it definitely wouldn’t be my first option. This is mainly because, for an experienced player, Berryburst MAX can get a bit boring as it doesn’t have that many interesting features. Also, because it is a slot with high volatility, the odds are that you’re more likely to lose your bet than hit it big.
Still, if you get the lucky spin with either fifteen raspberries or a wild on every reel, you will feel the weight of the MAX-part!
You can play Berryburst MAX in English, Finnish, Swedish, German and 19 other languages.
