Time travelling might not be a new idea, but I bet this is the first time you see tigers doing it! In Yggdrasil’s slot game Time Travel Tigers, you get to meet Dr Tigerstein – a tiger scientist fascinated by the possibilities to travel through time.
Time Travel Tigers was released in 2020 and it’s, again, a great example of what Yggdrasil’s slots are like. It has it all; a fun theme, beautiful animations and graphics, and several intriguing free spin bonus games.
Dr Tiegerstein might be a tiger, but he has a brilliant mind under all that orange, fluffy fur. He’s managed to build a time travel machine, but… it still has some quirks to it. The main problem being, Dr Tiegerstein doesn’t have any control on where – or when – does the machine take him to. Would it be in the heydays of the great Pharaos, or will he get to see the invention of the first wheel first-handed? It’s all possible!
Time Travel Tigers is a gorgeous slot with a theme that I don’t think I could’ve come up with myself. Also, it’s yet another excellent sample of what Yggdrasil does best – beautiful-looking games which look like the creators actually went ahead and had fun designing it.
I’ve always thought that because they’re not scared to try out new things, Yggdrasil has climbed the ranks so quickly and managed to become one of the best suppliers. They also always seem to go all-in with their games and this shows in the results. This investment in their products shows in Time Travel Tigers, too.
I particularly love the steampunk style in the graphics, and how Dr Tigerstein changes his apparel every time he goes through the machine. The music is a playful tune which, of course, changes too with the era to suit the ongoing game better. However, sometimes the track does start again with a clear skip to the beginning and I think this transition could have done a bit smoother.
Time Travel Tigers is a slot of five reels, four rows and it has 25 fixed paylines going from left to right. In addition to the regular symbols, the game has Wilds and Free Spin symbols. Wilds can substitute any other symbol except for the Free Spin. Landing three or more Free Spin symbols triggers one of the four possible time travel destinations.
High-paying symbols:
Low-paying symbols:
In the Egyptian Era, you get free spins as follows:
3 symbols = 6 free spins
4 symbols = 12 free spins
5 symbols = 18 free spins
In the Medieval Era, you get free spins as follows:
3 symbols = 7 free spins
4 symbols = 14 free spins
5 symbols = 21 free spins
In the Prehistoric Era, you get free spins as follows:
3 symbols = 5 free spins
4 symbols = 10 free spins
5 symbols = 15 free spins
In the Future Era, you get free spins as follows:
3 symbols = 12 free spins
4 symbols = 24 free spins
5 symbols = 36 free spins
Sadly, it’s not possible to re-trigger free spins in any of the eras.
I think Time Travel Tigers is a well-balanced slot with medium volatility and a bunch of free spins offering nice possibilities for big wins. The different eras with their own Wild features keep the adventure fresh and every time it’s exciting to see where I’m going to land next.
However, I did find the base game to be a tad dull on its own. The base game doesn’t offer anything else except for the free spins, so they’re pretty much the only chance to get some special action. It would’ve been fun to see the time machine to glitch a bit more so that the Wild features from other times could “spill” to the base game as a random event.
The game itself ran very smoothly and the graphics looked really nice. I also would have liked the option of choosing your destination era, which could have been done with an easy toggle switch; either have a randomly selected time or choose the preferred one. As the number of free spins correlates with the win multiplier, I would’ve not seen the problem giving this opportunity to the players.
In any case, I did enjoy playing Time Travel Tigers. Not just because it looks awesome, but it’s actually fun to play and see where our dear Dr Tiegerstein ends up. It’s also very easy and user-friendly, so it’s also a good choice for new players.
