Riches of Ra is rich in colour and simplicity, which has made my experience rather plentiful and unique.
I played Riches of Ra a long while ago, but I occasionally went back to it for some old-fashioned Ancient Egypt slot action on 15 selectable paylines and a 3×5 layout.

Riches of Ra has smooth gameplay that kind of stays with you. This is rare, in my opinion, considering the year it was made is 2012. Play’n GO did a re-release with updated graphics in 2018!
It may not be a famous title – certainly not as famous as Play’n GO’s Book of Dead, but it can definitely interest you with its unique personality and the maximum payout potential of 2,500x your bet.
The graphic design is marked by a selection of vibrant colours and symbols that have been drawn and rendered in a seamless manner.
True, you can’t escape from the usual Ancient Egyptian iconography of ankh symbols, scarabs and golden pharaoh statues, but there is a high level of quality to all of this.
My favourite detail is the symbol of Horus. The falcon-headed deity appears like a portrait and there is a cool animated effect to it when it lights up in its function as a Wild symbol.
Overall, I can’t find any fault with the design and I think most players will recognize the same. It’s just a perfect balance between animation and colour.
There are three non-paying symbols on the paytable that can result in winning outcomes of up to 150x your bet.
To get near this amount you first need to get all three of them onto land on the reel set.
This is essentially a pick-me bonus where you choose one of the urns topped with the heads of Egyptian deities.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the bonus triggering twice inside of 100 spins and few other times throughout my experience with Riches of Ra.
One caveat that I have about it is that the prizes amounts are random. You can win 150x your bet, but only if you play with the highest bet.
As I said earlier, the Wild symbol is represented by Horus. Sadly, this isn’t a paying symbol but it is highly important for the gameplay nevertheless.

The super-positive detail about this is that reel one is always Wild. I don’t care so much about reel five being Wild, but having a guaranteed Wild reel on the first position of your winning outcome is a major plus.
In my opinion, the RTP value gets an improvement thanks to these wilds. Of course, they can click together with additional Wilds posting on the three reels in the middle.
Riches of Ra is a rare beast nowadays, because of its selectable paylines. If you wish, you can play the game with a penny a spin.
This makes little sense to me, except for the purpose of cooling off from more expensive spins while still being in the game.
Coin values range between 1p and 25p and there are 5 levels. Tweaking these settings enables you to round up your bets.
Regardless of the odd number of paylines, you can lay $1.00 wagers with 10p per payline and ten active lines.
I am happy with these options because they afford you leeway with how you choose to disburse your money.
In terms of payouts, Riches of Ra resembles the paytables of most Play’n GO games from the same period.
One major difference I’ve noticed is the missing 5,000x your payline bet symbol. Because of the stacked Wilds and sticky expanded Wilds in the bonus feature, the highest-paying symbol has been curbed to 2,500x.
Other than this, the paytable structure is pretty consistent, which I prefer more than an erratic jump between values.

Riches of Ra should be a go-to game for anyone who wants to taste the benefit of guaranteed Wild reels as part of a free spins bonus feature. The downside to this is fewer open positions for the Bonus symbol and no chance to retrigger the free spins.
Another notable detail is the high volatility. I prefer games that have moderate maximum payout amounts and high volatility engines as opposed to huge amounts, like 15,000x your bet or more. In my opinion, winning close to 2,500x is more likely to happen in a game like Riches of Ra.
