An Arthurian legend is unearthed in The Sword and the Grail from Play’n GO. Joined by familiar faces of fable, Arthurian Romance is now given the video slot treatment. Enter a medieval kingdom where magic, mystery and multipliers abound.

An Epic’s Visuals

Fir for a saga so expansive and eternal, The Sword and the Grail has graphics that are fit for a king. A subdued backdrop of an ominously lit Camelot interior is the setting for the base game. All long cast shadows, flickering torch flames with just a hint of the supernatural provide a compelling atmosphere, while also being a touch on the eerie side.

King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Lady Guinevere and Merlin form the ensemble for The Sword and the Grail. Illustrated with flair and majesty, Play’n GO have rendered these iconic characters in distinctive tones, providing high-contrast symbols that are easily differentiated.

The less than colourful interior is punctuated with symbol design incorporating neons and luminous flashes, elevating the somewhat dour colour palette to one with hints of luminous enchantment.

The Sword and the Grail music comes courtesy of demonic chanting, sentimental melodies and a moody horn section providing a sinister, foreboding atmosphere.

Conclusion

Fans of medieval-themed slots are going to love The Sword and the Grail from Play’n GO. Ticking all the thematic boxes, graphics are outstanding, the music fits like a glove and gameplay is pitched perfectly.

All the medieval projects we had to do at primary school kind of puts me off this period slot. Sure, the graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay way above average but I can’t shake the memory of my 5-year old self trying to stake awake during history class.

As good-looking as the base game is, it would have been nice for the features to be more featured. Otherworldly and breathtaking graphics aside, this slot could have benefitted by a bump in features.

There could have been a bit more going on when it comes to features. But, the multiplier wilds on offer with the tiered multiplier Free Spins is a really nice touch and keeps gameplay ticking along nicely.

Hard to fault, The Sword and the Grail raises itself above other medieval-themed slots. This slot is an exemplary all-rounder, both stylistically and mechanically strong. Much like King Arthur himself, there are plenty of reasons why this slot reaches legendary status.
