The images in the slot are all related to Freya or her myths. We can see different animals and items that count for the high-paying symbols while card suits in runic form are used to represent the low-paying symbols. Even though they are card suits, the designers did a good job making them look like Nordic runes and fit the style of the game. When it comes to animations, the player will be in for a treat. There are birds flying in the background while the high-paying symbols have subtle animations when part of a win.
Playing the game, players are confined mostly to the 5-reel, 3-row playing field with a standard 20 win lines. The game does adjust the presentation of the game as the free spins mode is activated and the player progresses through a series of screens. This will all still happen on the same playing field, however.

There are four free spins modes, namely Love, War, Sorcery and Finale. When activating the free spins mode, players will go through each mode until they reach Finale. After this is completed, the total winnings are awarded. Each mode has its own feature, including random wilds, a multiplier and a random symbol changed into the Boar symbol. These features culminate in the Finale, where they are all active at the same time.

The Faces of Freya is a slot that dives deep into the lore and myths that revolve around this character, even though her exact background will likely not be familiar to most people. Even though she has a familiar name, I had to read up on her to see the connections. I appreciate that the creators put a lot of thought into the setting, showing it off in the art and the names of the different features.
I didn’t think they did such a good job with the features. The features themselves are fine if a bit messy, but the way they are explained is terribly convoluted and confusing. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to explain a feature when showing it will be much simpler, but the way the paytable describes it made me more confused.
The upside here is that the player is not required to make any choices concerning the features. Just playing the game will automatically trigger a free spins mode, and the results are going to be presented to you regardless of your understanding of how they work. With that stipulation, you can start spinning and see how it feels.
