Are you ready to stuff your face with candy, candy and more candy? Well, you better be because it’s time for trick ‘n treating in Hot Hot Halloween!
Hot Hot Halloween is a holiday-themed slot game released in 2019 by Habanero. The sun’s gone down and the streets are illuminated by carved pumpkins, candles and festive lights. You are wearing your spookiest costume and know all the secrets into trick or treating! The key to a successful night is to choose the best-decorated houses and, you already got your eye set on the first one. But can you pass the gate that seems to be enchanted?
With high volatility and the relatively high maximum win, Hot Hot Halloween can easily catch players’ interest. However, like always with high volatile slots, you should keep an eye on your balance as these type of games can quickly suck you dry (like a vampire!). On the other hand, high variance slots have better potency for colossal wins.
Hot Hot Halloween is an action-packed slot game with jammin’ dance music. The background music has some occasional wolves howling, creepy laughter and spooky wind whispering – and I absolutely love it. But, if it’s not your cup of tea you can mute either both ambient and effect sounds, or just one of them.
The game is set in front of a house that’s been nicely decorated. There are carved pumpkins, cats sleeping in a cauldron and the wind is gently swaying the tree branches holding string lights. The game symbols are, of course, treats, ghosts, pumpkins and zombie hands.
Hot Hot Halloween has five reels and five rows, but no fixed paylines. To win, you need to get at least three identical symbols on the same row. The location doesn’t matter. Thanks to the Hot Hot feature you can have up to 15 symbols on a single row.
You can win up to 12 free spins with the help of the pumpkin Wilds.

Special symbols:
Each row in the game has a certain multiplier which will be added to a win located on that row. The top and bottom rows have x1 multiplier, rows 2 and 4 multiply your wins by 2 and the middle-row has x3 multiplier.
A random feature which can activate on any spin. The feature picks random symbols on the reels and splits them into two. These symbols count as two symbols on a row. This can happen to any symbol in the game, even the Wild.
Only sevens can transform into triple symbols.
If three or more pumpkins land on the left OR right side (meaning, at least one normal Wild and one split Wild on reels 1 and 2, OR reels 4 and 5) you win 6 free spins.
If three or more pumpkins land on the left AND right side (meaning, at least one normal Wild and one split Wild on reels 1 and 2, AND reels 4 and 5) you win 12 free spins.
Free spins can not be re-triggered.
During free spins, every winning symbol sticks to its place for the rest of the spins. Naturally, these symbols keep paying wins on every following spin.
You can speed up the reels by enabling Quick Spin from the game tools.
Habanero is a bit unknown supplier for me so trying Hot Hot Halloween was an interesting experience. For starters, I have to give full marks for the execution and the fun features! Double symbols aren’t anything I haven’t seen before but, combining them with sticky wins makes it all very promising.
At first, it was a bit hard for me to read the game as I expected to see your standard reels and paylines. Even after realising how the slot works, the Hot Hot feature splitting the symbols made it a bit challenging to see what was going on. Luckily, whether you understand the game or not it will, of course, pay the wins if such is due.
The free spins are definitely the best part of the slot because of the sticky wins that keep collecting coins to your pockets. It’s a bit of a shame not to be able to re-trigger the spins but, maybe that would be an overkill…
I enjoyed playing Hot Hot Halloween and would say that if you’re as hardcore Halloween fan as I am, do give this one a go.
