Well, what do you know! The Princess and the Pea has a craving for fruit and she’s found other princesses just like her. If that story were ever to get a twist for the sake of creating an online slot, it would be named Exotic Fruit.
Booming Games has placed a fruit-themed game in an evergreen forest that is inhabited by dolls that look like some of those collectible toys that have caused people to swarm department stores and engage in pulls and tugs. To me, the symbols are the equivalent to the Cabbage Patch Kids but in outfits that are a tad racy.
I really don’t know what to make of this game when it comes to the theme, but I see a decent payout potential and win multipliers of up to 10x.
About a dozen spins in and few winning outcomes, I noticed that this candy-land forest can trigger winning outcomes both left to right and right to left across 15 paylines. A free spins bonus is also available as is a gamble game that enables you to gain more spins or end up with the opposite.
Exotic Fruit is not my cup of lychee tea, but I decided to give the game a chance anyway and see if it can pull any surprises for me.
I have to admit that the graphic design is quite on point. Booming Games has succeeded in creating a vibrant game, very light-hearted and entertaining enough so that you’d play it for at least a couple of dozen spins to let it change your mind about leaving.
Clearly, the developers have had the female population in mind when making this game, but some guys are bold and daring and can shrug-off getting seen by their friends playing a slot game like this instead of something more ‘appropriate’ like Punk Rocker.
At any rate, Exotic Fruit has few and limited moving parts. The reel set is constantly in movement as the trees are swaying and the butterflies are fluttering their wings in and out of the frame, but the animation for any of the symbol payouts is just basic. On the other hand, your visual field is saturated in colours and you kind of feel at peace in this story about fruit princesses.
Exotic Fruit can make some decent payouts with the help of the multiplier wilds and during the free spins bonus. Payouts for winning combinations with the standard symbols are a mixed bag, as it can be expected, however, any symbols that have four of a kind on a payline pays back the bet or more.
Low payouts are made for three lychees, pomegranate and starfruit symbols – between 0.2x and 0.33x your bet. Four matching symbols composed by the same set of fruits pay between 0.66x and 1.66x and the optimal payouts are between 1.66x and 10xx your bet.
The most valuable symbol on Exotic Fruit is the Hula Girl holding a pineapple. Her symbol can pay 100x your bet for five of a kind. The good thing is you see this symbol appear on the reel set on one or two positions often and few times in three. All I needed was a mystery wild in the middle for a hefty payout, but better luck next time, I guess.
Despite the two-way pay system and the multiplier wilds, Exotic Fruit lacks the x-factor that can keep you into the game. The payout potential is decent, in view of the paytable, but it still doesn’t compensate for the fact that it is only the middle reel that can make a difference for the potential big win.
I can recommend the game to all the manly men out there as it may help some people find their tender side, by simply struggling to understand all the fluff on the reels. The female population will find it appealing, methinks, and come to think of it, the game indeed has the potential to shake out some exotic wins.
Booming Games hasn’t disclosed the volatility, but to me, it feels like a low to medium variance game.
