Red Tiger brings us a glistening, polished title – Diamond Blitz. A 5×3 grid featuring the usual fruity suspects, Diamond Blitz is a slot that harks back to days long since past.
If you’re hankering for a period when strangers would say “hello” in the street and people didn’t lock their doors, Diamond Blitz is your ticket to a simpler time.
A Walk Down Memory Lane
Intricately lit and lovingly designed, Diamond Blitz is a classic example of a classic slot, for classic people. An old format with a slight twist, Diamond Blitz is perfect for players that want to reminisce. Diamond Blitz is much better than the alternative – heading out to the one-armed bandit collecting cobwebs in the corner of your local chippy.
With a gorgeous colour palette full of vibrant pinks, purples and blues, the colour palette lends itself well to giving the rather dusty convention of fruities a facelift.
Wilds at Heart
Light on features, Diamond Blitz is designed for people who don’t like surprises from their slots. That said, Diamond Blitz has the following features:
Yep, that’s a whole lot of wilds going on.
Free Spins and Wilds
Randomly enter the dazzling Blitz Mode to crack open up to five Free Spins as you’re graced with the appearance of diamond locking wild symbols at the bottom of the grid. The wilds stay put until they’ve either connected with other symbols or made it to the bottom row.
During the Free Spins round, you’re looking at a maximum of five Free Spins and these cannot be retriggered.
As a proud member of Red Tiger’s Daily Jackpot network, players can enjoy some progressive action with Diamond Blitz. Players need to be aware that, although Diamond Blitz is optimised for the Daily Jackpot, this function may not be available at every casino.
The dollars, Shilling and Pence
A bit-on-the-stingy-side RTP of 95.75% doesn’t particularly endear me towards this low volatility slot. Maximum bet starts at $100 and goes down to as low as $0.10, a pretty standard offering. A rather tame maximum win potential of 560x isn’t exactly going to have punters queuing at the door either.
Our old friends, the classic fruity symbols, for five on any of the 20 paylines are valued as follows:
False Fortunes
Nostalgia-tinted gameplay is a profitable market for game producers, albeit a slightly dull one. If you like meat-and-two-veg slots with very little in the way of surprises, Diamond Blitz fits the bill. There’s nothing overly offensive about the slot – it just feels a bit meh.
I applaud Red Tiger’s attention to detail but the incessant white noise of machine whirring had me reaching for my eye mask and cocoa. Away from the relentless drone of a one-armed bandit effect (read: hit ‘mute’), this slot has very little originality on offer.
An interface so clean you could eat your dinner from it, Red Tiger is once again top of the bill for intuitive skin design. Both minimal and requiring little effort, here are slot controls that are simply and elegantly integrated into the game without feeling cumbersome in the slightest.
The Blitz Mode is far too fleeting, more of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it feature which does nothing to enhance gameplay. While there is certainly a market for these classic fruities, I’m not a massive fan. At least at the chip shop you can get a pickled egg.
