Asia Wins boils down the essence of Asian culture into a series of neon-lit symbols and places them on a series of reels for us to enjoy!
This Booming Games slot is made to fit the existing series of slots that are based on different locations, expressed through neon-sign looking symbols. Examples include Miami Nights, Royal Wins and Mexico Wins. Asia Wins was released in 2018 and making it one of the latest iterations of this series.
The slot has the developer’s favourite layout of 5 reels and 3 rows, holding an equally average 20 paylines. The symbols are comprised out of interpretations or abstract images related to Asian culture without getting too specific about which areas of the continent. The neon images should be familiar to people that have played any of the aforementioned slots.
I thought the symbols were designed quite well, even though they stay pretty minimal. The use of some simple lines and sharp colour contrasts create the necessary illusion to make them seem like they’re made out of neon lights.
The soundtrack is something rather familiar to people that have played slots set in Asia before. It has the usual rustic atmosphere with authentic instruments, while wins are accentuated with a short organ jingle. Unlike previous slots by this developer, the jingle doesn’t detract from the setting.
The game has a unique selection of symbols except for the different 7s, which is something that keeps recurring in this series of slots as well. They are all visually distinguishable and fit the theme of the slot very well. I wish there were a few more animations to draw the eye but all in all, there is enough movement to keep things interesting.
The symbols are from highest to lowest:
The coin value for wins is alright when it comes to five-of-a-kind wins but this drops rapidly when you get shorter paylines. This fits the Low Volatility, however, which was relatively noticeable during my time playing. My funds stayed pretty steady overall with some slight dips and boosts as normal.
Booming Games always uses a selection of features that are very popular but not overflowing in originality and it’s no different in Asia Wins. The features are as followed:
None of these features strikes me as particularly interesting, especially since I’ve played the other slots in this series numerous times before. The Stacked Symbols are largely irrelevant in helping create wins, while the Stacked Wilds can be quite helpful but are also rarer. The main reason why the slot has low volatility is that it doesn’t have too many different symbols, making it more likely the same one appears on multiple consecutive reels.
The Free Spins got triggered quite often during my time playing, adding a coin win by the Scatter Symbols being on-screen themselves before starting the mode with 10 free spins. It’s possible to get an additional 10 free spins when you get 3 more Scatter Symbols on the screen during this mode but that did not happen while I was playing it.
All in all, the features help create some unexpected elements during the base game but don’t drastically alter the gameplay in any way. Perfect for players that enjoy a very classic slot experience but people that enjoy something a little more varied might like Mexico Wins more with its Pay Both Ways feature.
Asia Wins is another slot in the growing library of Booming Games that can be classified under competent but average. The graphics are sharp and shiny, with original symbols which I always appreciate. The soundtrack is suitably relevant if uninspired. The gameplay is rock-steady but that’s mostly because it doesn’t differentiate from the norm at all.
Players that like to play on classic slots simply can’t go wrong with games in this series because it offers exactly what they will be looking for. Something easy and quick to get into, with limited features and a ‘fire and forget’ style of play. Simply start spinning to see what comes out.
You get the opportunity to select a bet between $0.01 and $200 per spin, where it’s always smart to start low and only scale up when you get comfortable with the volatility of the slot. Asian Wins has a max. win of 2,000x your bet which is actually quite good for a game with low volatility.
