Lucky Streak takes the step back in time to where slots were fruit machines and players were still required to head to a gambling hall or pub to play. The slot features a series of simple additions, including free spins and a Trail Bonus.
At the time of this writing, this Big Time Gaming slot that was released in 2014 has not been updated to HTML5 yet. The game used to run on Flash but this software has been discontinued which means that the game is currently unplayable if you don’t use Flash. It’s recommended not to use Flash anymore since it won’t be updated and leaves your computer vulnerable to hackers.
Assuming the game gets transferred to different software, or if you still use Flash, the review will let you know if it’s worth your time. The slot includes a 5-reel, 3-row playing field with 20 paylines that are set up like a standard fruit machine. The game actually does an excellent job at looking like an actual slot, with the reels seemingly on physical reels with the slot projecting shadows on the surface. That said, the game doesn’t win any prizes for originality as the symbols are simple fruits.
The surrounding part of the slot has the same level of detail, with flashing lights and buttons that you can almost feel when you click on them. There is a paytable to the side that shows you the different features and it’s also done in the same style, really immersing the player in the experience.
There is a normal selection of symbols that are all based on regular ones. The only unique symbol is the Lucky Streak one, and you can tell since it looks out of place compared to the old-school symbols that populate the rest of the reels.
The symbols include:
I found the game to be reasonably good at granting wins by a collection of features, but the wins aren’t especially large unless you can get a number of wilds together. Players can pick a bet between $0.20 and $10 per spin if they’re feeling adventurous. The max. win is 10,000x your bet which you can get by having 5 Wilds on a win line.
Even though Lucky Streak strives to emulate the classic fruit machine, they do have some special features that are better fitting to more modern slots. The features are all explained on the screen, just like they would be on the physical machine.
The slots include:
The features are quite complicated when seen on the screen, with a lot of the descriptions rather confusing. I found that the best way to understand them was to simply play the game as that made it clearer.
The Wilds are only visible during the Lucky Streak part of the game, which I never got to activate. It requires a series of Scatter symbols to appear on the screen but those were quite rare. Once they do appear, players will be granted a win regardless though.
The features aren’t exactly what I would consider the most appealing part of the slot. I think players that are looking for a classic fruit machine will be more enamoured by the look of the game. The features are a bit underwhelming as they don’t activate very often. Still, it is possible to get some big wins, considering the Medium Volatility.
Lucky Streak is a game that is actually a beautifully designed slot in how it gets the classic look of the physical machines down to an amazing level. If you were someone that used to play these machines in the gambling hall or pub, you’ll likely get flashbacks to those moments when you start up this game.
That said, starting up this game at this point in time is difficult. We can only hope that Big Time Gaming eventually transfers the game to more secure HTML5 and it can be played again, but as of right now it’s unlikely you will be able to find a working instance of the game.
That said, assuming you are reading this when the slot is available again, I would recommend it if you are a fan of old-school slots. The features weren’t quite as interesting but they do offer up some variety.
