It’s time to let your hair down and to headbang to some of the best rock tunes around. Perhaps you can leave your leather pants and animal prints aside to play this slot game. This game needs very little introduction. As you can assume, it’s a slot game dedicated to 80s legendary rock band Guns N Roses.

Founded back in 1985, Guns N Roses still enjoys significant popularity and bringing its rock anthems to audiences and concert venues across the world. So, when Swedish software provider NetEnt decided to create its NetEnt Rocks! Trilogy and had to think up of three legendary music groups, Guns N Roses was a no brainer.

Launched in the early months of 2016, the slot game itself is a music riot of colour, immersive features and loud rock ’n roll that emulates that of a concert venue. I have already covered some of the slot games within this series, but to me, this one is the best by far. It feels like NetEnt really went all out to deliver the finest rock-based music slot.

To do this, there are five Guns N Roses tracks for you to listen to as you spin the reels. Legendary duo Axl Rose and Slash also have a pivotal role to play in the game. To get into the spirit of things, I put on my bandana to really get into the mindset.

Spread over five reels, three rows and 20 fixed pay lines, this low to medium volatile slot game, has more than enough features to have you sweating with delight.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty details of this game.

Symbols and Features

Since this is a game based on the iconic American band, you can expect a few surprises, including a variety of wilds, bonus symbols, free spins and much more.

  • A Whole Lotta Wilds

The Guns N Roses emblem acts as a Wild and can crop up anytime and anywhere on the reels, with the exception of the middle reel during the Appetite for Destruction Wild feature. The wilds can further transform into Expanding Wilds to cover the entire reel. In turn, Expanding Wilds can substitute all icons except for the overlay Wild during the Legend Spins, the Stacked Wild during the Encore Spins round and the Appetite for Destruction Wild. This may all sound puzzling, but trust me, it all comes together once you start playing.

As you are aware by now, wilds can substitute for all other symbols bar, the bonus symbols to help create a winning combo.

  • Legend Spins Feature

This feature is randomly activated and results in three re-spins with either one or two Stacked Wild Reels. Throughout these re-spins, the Stacked Wild reels stay locked into position for maximum effect.

On your first re-spin, the stacked reel stays locked onto the third reel; in the second re-spins, it stays on reels one and five; on the third re-spin, reels two and four become stacked.

  • Appetite for Destruction Wild Feature

If you are a fan of the band, you know that this feature was named after the band’s album. This feature is only triggered randomly and can crop up either partially or completely on the reels.

The main purpose of this feature is to act as a Wild which is randomly triggered. You’ll only know you’ve hit this feature when you see five wilds in the shape of a cross bang in the middle. In an ideal world, the cross would crop up in the center of the reels, but this isn’t always the case and can result in fewer wins. Still getting three or four Wilds in one go can reap you wins aplenty.

  • Solo Multiplier Feature

This feature is similarly triggered randomly throughout the main gameplay. It has the ability to multiply any pay lines randomly, based on a specific symbol. Multipliers here can range between 4x and 10x, but cannot be activated during either the Appetite for Destruction or the Legend Spins features are in full swing.

  • Crowd Pleaser Bonus Game

There are three bonus games you can access when bonus symbols pop up on reels one, three and five. This specific feature is a pick-and-click game with three individual levels. Players can win up to 600 coins in one swoop movement.

During level one, you have three options to pick out of eight symbols. Once you collect 60 coins or move, you move ahead to level 2.

During level two, you get three chances to pick. Gather 300 coins from the initial two levels, to move onto the next one. A total of 800 or more coins, means that your winnings are doubled twofold.

  • Coin Win Bonus

This simple yet straightforward bonus round can see you collect between 200 and 600 coins.

  • Encore Free Spins Bonus Round

The third and final option out of the three bonus rounds is the Encore Free Spins which awards you with ten free spins.

This feature can only be activated by spinning the Bonus Wheel. When triggered, you’ll also land Axl, Slash or Duff as an overlay stacked Wild on reels two, three or four.

The other band members also serve as wilds on other reels You can’t trigger any extra spins during this round.

Conclusion

NetEnt deserves a round of applause for creating a slot machine that is so intricate and elaborate. Don’t go into playing this game thinking you’ll land yourself numerous features, as some of them don’t tend to crop up that often. It can be a little frustrating if you are spinning the reels hoping to land a specific feature because they don’t turn up as much as they should.

In my personal opinion, this slot game embodies the modern slot game perfectly, both in terms of design and art and entertainment value. I often wonder what the band itself had to say about this game, especially the rather aloof guitarist Slash.

Just like the songs of this band have managed to change many people’s lives, this slot game thrives in rocking you to the core. It gave me a few solid hours of entertainment and managed to walk away with quite a bit of bob. This does not, in any way, mean you can make some solid moolah, but with an RTP of 97%, it is not too farfetched. Then again, there are absolutely no guarantees.

If it’s rock classic slot games you are after, you might as well check out the other slot games in the series, Motorhead and Jimi Hendrix.
