Step right up and see the wonders that Dr Fortuno has gathered. Relax, enjoy the circus and hope you get to leave alive.
Dr Fortuno welcomes you to the big tent and will show you the mysterious wonders of the world. See the two-headed girl, the fire-eating clown and the mermaid witch of the deep. Spin the wheel and win the jackpot. It keeps growing with each poor soul who dares to play.
Yggdrasil released Dr Fortuno in 2019 and it was everywhere. Every casino that got the game was advertising it like crazy. No surprise there, as this is a great game with a heavy emphasis on the theme. The slot is full of special features, including a progressive jackpot.
Dr Fortuno can also be seen in Yggdrasil’s other game, Dr Fortuno Blackjack. That game is a full-blown blackjack with the same theme as this one.
Come right in, and see if you win. Volatility may be medium, but there are a lot of heavy-hitting features just waiting for you to get lucky.
The game greets you with classic imagery from America’s past. A dark night with the only lights being from the creepy old circus. Open the curtain, step right in and you will find Dr Fortuno waiting for you with a show of a lifetime. This is a horror film setting just waiting for someone to shout ‘action’.
The slot goes heavy with the theme. Every little detail is done to perfection and even the reels are rolls of tickets. This isn’t just a new skin on top of an old slot, but a real game with a life of its own.
The music is lively and follows what is going on in the game. When you start, the slightly off-tune piano is just warming up and waiting for you. As soon as the reels start to spin, the rest of the orchestra will join in. Slightly creepy and somewhat spooky, in other words, perfect for a circus.
Yggdrasil is not pulling punches when it comes to the themes of their games. If they do something, they go all out, and Dr Fortuno is not an exception. I love this about the developer, as I get to jump in and experience a whole new world with every game.
The game is really clever when it comes to the symbols. Especially the low-tier symbols are designed in a way that is surprising and innovative. The high-paying symbols are stacked and fill up three spaces.
The slot has seven regular symbols and two special ones. The three high-paying symbols are the performers, the two-headed Night Twins, the shackled clown Fire Head and the mermaid Water Witch. The low-paying symbols are oddities in glass jars, which are actually shaped like card suits. The heart has a heart in it, the spade has an octopus, the diamond has a brain in it and the club has three eyeballs.
The special symbols are Dr Fortuno as the wild and his hat as a scatter bonus. The wild can nudge itself to fill the reel if it is only partially visible. It will also activate the Wheel of Fortuno feature if you get it as a part of a winning combination. The scatter symbol in turn will activate the Free Spins feature if you get three or more of them.
I found the game to be fairly balanced and it does have a medium volatility. The special features activate fairly often, but what bugged me were the long dry spells. You don’t need to hit the Free Spins to get anything good, but they sure do help.
Every time you win something with a wild symbol in it, you get to spin the Wheel of Fortuno. The number of wilds in the win is the number of spins you get.
This is a fairly simple wheel of fortune. You have cash prizes, win multipliers, extra spins and a little thing called a progressive jackpot. To win that, you first need to hit the jackpot sector to unlock it and then hit it again. Unlocking it will give you a new spin, so you can do this with just one initial spin.
The jackpot is nice, but it’s nothing compared to NetEnt’s or Microgaming’s major pots. It is usually in the hundreds or in the thousands and very rarely go over the ten thousand mark.
If you hit three or more scatter bonus symbols, you activate the Free Spin feature. You will always get 10 free spins, but if you hit more scatters, you get more features for those spins. Three symbols will give you one, four gives you two and five scatters will hand out three feature tickets.
At the start of the spins, you will receive your feature tickets. They all have some special rule that will apply during the spins.
This game is a real show stopper. It has a ton of features crammed into one slot, which is the best and the worst thing about it.
I love that the game has a lot to do, but at the same time, this game isn’t easy to learn. There is a lot going on and many of them are a result of chance. So, hitting them doesn’t always happen and you are going to see new things for a long time.
In the end, I do like this game, make no mistake about that. I just need to sit back and not think too much about what I want to hit and what would be the most optimised line.
If you want a game with everything in it but the kitchen sink, then this is the slot for you.
