Show Master is a callback to the older type of slots where the game was focused on giving the idea that you were playing on a show. To help with this idea, the game features a bonus wheel, wilds and free spins that bring the game to life.

This slot was released in 2020 and developed by Booming Games. This studio has some other slots under its belt but these are largely based around more original concepts. With this game, the developer seemed to want to take a step back and bring back some classic ideas. The game features a 5-reel, 3-row playing field with 20 paylines which are standard fare for these types of slots.

When it comes to the theme, it must be pretty clear. The game looks like it is taking place on a sound stage where a presenter is helping you get through the slot as good as possible. Activating the special bonus wheel will show him spin it for you and giving you one of the wins that are present on it. These wins are arguably the most interesting part of the game for me.

As far as the presentation goes, the symbols used are largely familiar to people that know slots. The low-paying symbols are rudimentary card letters while the high-paying symbols are made up out of the usual fruits, bells and bonus symbols. You won’t find what you’re looking for here if you’re interested in a game that has an experimental appearance.

Symbols

Show Master uses a standard selection of symbols for both the high- and low-paying symbols. The game does not even make any attempt to present these in any different ways. I would have liked to have seen at least some animations on the reels but we don’t even get those. The only real movement is the show master himself when he appears on the screen to spin the bonus wheel.

Players get the opportunity to select a bet between $0.20 and $100 per spin. This is a good thing since the slot has High Volatility that can really impact your funds. It will often require a spin on the bonus wheel to get a big enough win that will compensate for your losses up to that point. I do have to mention that I kept my funds pretty stable and did not see my total coins drop very quickly.

The players that stick with it, or have a rare opportunity for a quick jackpot, will be able to walk away with a max. win of 5,000x your bet. This is about average for a slot with this volatility but that obviously doesn’t mean it’s anything to scoff at.

The symbols in the game include:

  • Bonus: Get 2 Bonus symbols on the screen to activate the Bonus Wheel. Bonus symbols also act as a Wild.
  • Wild: Wilds substitute all symbols except the Bonus symbol. Max. 25x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Seven: Max. 20x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Bell: Max. 15x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Cherries: Max. 10x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Lemon: Max. 5x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Ace: Max. 2.5x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • King: Max. 1.25x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Queen: Max. 1.25x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.
  • Jack: Max. 1.25x your bet with five-of-a-kind on a winning bet line.

Features

Show Master is rather light on regular features but that is compensated for by the features that are present on the wheel. Players will have to get two Bonus symbols on the screen to activate it, and when it does it will get spun by the Show Master himself. After this, the result will show on the screen.

First the regular features in the game:

  • Wilds: Wilds substitute all regular symbols in the game.
  • Bonus Wheel: 2 Bonus symbols will trigger the Bonus Wheel. Bonus symbols also act as Wilds.

When playing the base game, the Wilds are relatively common. It is comparatively a lot trickier to activate the bonus wheel but it is still possible and happens quite frequently. Once it does, the wheel will automatically be spun and it can have the following results:

  • Free Spins: The wheel grants the player either 4 or 8 free spins.
  • Wild Multipliers: A random multiplier is added to all Wilds on the screen. This multiplier can be 2x, 3x and/or 5x.
  • Instant Prize: Players instantly receive a coin win between 5x and 5,000x your bet.
  • Bursting Wilds: Turns 0 to 8 random symbols into Wilds.
  • Royal Upgrade: Transforms all low-paying symbols into the Ace.
  • Major Upgrade: Transforms all low-paying symbols into a high-paying symbol.
  • Wild Reels: All Wilds on the screen will turn into Stacked Wilds.

The Free Spins mode can only be activated through the bonus wheel but in my experience, it’s not very special. The gameplay is exactly the same as during the base game. The main feature to aim for on the bonus wheel is the instant prize, as that is the way to win the jackpot.

Conclusion

Show Master is a classic slot that was released very recently. The game does not make any effort to create an original or modern look for itself. Players who would like to play something experimental or new will not be able to do that here.

If you are someone who enjoys the more classic appearance, or maybe you just want to focus on the gameplay, Show Master has a lot more to offer. The Bonus Wheel is stuffed full of features that can impact the game in meaningful ways. Although they aren’t all as beneficial to the player, they are all pretty interesting.

I had a good time playing this game even though my funds never moved into the positives very much. It is mostly just an enjoyable slot to pass some time with. If you do manage to hit the jackpot, I would consider it a bonus instead of the goal.
